About MagWLED-1

MagWLED-1 is a compact, high-quality WLED controller designed to make addressable LED projects as simple as possible. Plug in power, connect your strip, and you’re up and running.

Core Features

  • ESP32-C3 MCU — A capable RISC-V single-core controller with built-in WiFi, running the open-source WLED firmware out of the box.
  • Compact form factor — A 4-layer PCB measuring just 48 × 32 mm with a maximum height of 7.6 mm. Four 3 mm mounting holes and a flat underside for adhesive mounting.
  • Gold-plated pads — ENIG finish for reliable soldering and long-term durability.
  • Pre-installed WLED — Ships with WLED ready to go — just connect to the WLED-AP access point and start configuring.

Power Handling

  • USB-C Power Delivery up to 12V — Supports 15W at 5V or 36W at 12V, both at 3A current. Works with most USB chargers, power banks, and even laptop ports (at lower current draws).
  • On-board voltage DIP switch — Select between 5V (default) and 12V mode to match your LED strip.
  • Resettable 3A fuse — Gradually heats above 3A and trips around 4A, protecting both the board and your power source.
  • External DC power input — A screw terminal allows connecting an external DC power supply (up to 12V) as an alternative to USB-C.
  • Low idle power — Only 0.35W at idle.

LED Output

  • Single LED output — One data channel for WS28xx and compatible addressable LED strips.
  • WAGO 2060 terminal block — Accepts 18–24 AWG wire, with an included silicone pigtail for easy connection.
  • High-quality signal path — A high-performance level shifter with a 249 Ohm resistor ensures clean data signals to the strip.
  • ESD protection — ESD diodes on both the USB and LED connector ports.

Peripherals

  • Three GPIO breakout pins — GPIO 6, GPIO 7, and GPIO 10 are broken out for connecting sensors, buttons, or a microphone.
  • Power rails — 5V output (max 100 mA) and 3.3V output (max 200 mA) available on the breakout header.
  • USB-C flashing — Update firmware directly over the USB-C connector, no extra hardware needed.
  • Status LEDs — Green PWR LED and orange/red PD LED for at-a-glance status.
