WLED-AP WiFi network is not showing up

After plugging in your MagWLED-1, the green PWR LED should turn on and a WiFi network called WLED-AP should appear within a few seconds. If the LED is on but no hotspot appears, the most common cause is incompatible firmware.

Most likely cause: wrong firmware

The WLED project’s official installer does not ship a build that is fully compatible with MagWLED-1. If you (or a previous update) installed firmware directly from the WLED website, certain hardware features — including the WiFi access point — may not work correctly.

Fix: Reinstall the firmware from the MagWLED installer:

  1. Go to install.magwled.com
  2. Connect your MagWLED-1 via USB-C
  3. Select your device and install the latest firmware

This should restore normal operation including the WLED-AP hotspot.

If the device is stuck in a boot loop

If your device is cycling through USB connect/disconnect sounds repeatedly and not booting, see Device won’t boot after firmware update.
