Effects stutter or flash randomly when used with Home Assistant
If your MagWLED-1 effects look smooth on their own but stutter or show random flashes as soon as the device is added to Home Assistant, the cause is usually Home Assistant’s periodic polling of the WLED entities. Each poll briefly interrupts effect rendering, which shows up as a hiccup or stray frame.
The fix is to disable polling for the WLED integration — Home Assistant will continue to receive state updates pushed by WLED itself, so you don’t lose functionality.
How to disable Home Assistant polling
-
In Home Assistant, open Settings → Devices & Services and select the WLED integration.
-
On the integration’s device page, click the ⋮ (three-dot) menu next to the MagWLED-1 device, then choose System options.

-
Turn off Enable polling for changes and click Update.

The effects should run smoothly again immediately — no restart required.
