Green LED is dim and no WiFi hotspot appears

The green PWR LED on the MagWLED-1 should be bright and steady when the board is receiving adequate power. If it appears dim and the WLED-AP hotspot doesn’t appear, this typically indicates one of two things:

1. Insufficient power from the USB-C adapter

Not all USB-C adapters deliver enough power. The MagWLED-1 requires a USB-C Power Delivery (PD) capable adapter. A standard 5V/0.5A charger (like a phone trickle charger) may not provide enough current.

Fix: Use a USB-C PD adapter rated at at least 15W (e.g. Anker 45W, Apple 20W, or similar). See Choosing a USB-C Power Source for recommended adapters.

Also try a different USB-C cable — some cables are charge-only and don’t negotiate PD properly.

2. Hardware issue with the board

If you’ve confirmed the adapter and cable are good (they work fine with another MagWLED-1 or similar device), and the LED is still dim with no WiFi output, the board itself may have a hardware defect.

Next step: Contact support at support@magwled.com with your order number. A dim LED combined with no WiFi AP is not a firmware issue — it’s a hardware symptom that we’ll want to address with a replacement.
